Environmental Mission Statement



The American College For Advancment in Medicine endorses the belief that we have a two-fold responsibility to protecting our environment, promoting sustaibale business practices and promoting day-to-day wellness.

In our educational mission, ACAM will strive to:

  • create a sense of responsibility to our resources and community. 
  • ensure that members, leadership, and staff are aware of environmental issues that impact our business and mission.
  • encourage research that promotes health and wellness in conjunction with using sustainable resources.
  • recognize corporate partners who use environmentally-ballanced practices.  

In our daily business operations, ACAM will:

  • utilize available recycling opportunities;
  • conserve natural resources and support their sustainable use by taking positive steps toward upgrading environmental systems in the executive office 
  • reduce the use of toxic substances and the generation of wastes and promote strategies to reuse and recycle those wastes that cannot be avoided
  • purchase renewable, reusable, precyclable, recyclable and recycled materials.
  • recycle meeting-related items when apriopriate (signage, badge holders, etc)

personal responsibility to create change: examples of how acam staff has embraced our corporate culture

  • replaced all cleaning chemicals with biodegradeable products
  • replaced one-time use cups with waterbottles
  • transitioned to electronic format for documents whenever possible
  • reduced ambient lighting in the summer when the office receives direct sunlight
  • use of conference bags as resuable grocery bags
