Nutrition in Clinical Practice
|
Nutrition is the foundation of health and wellness; yet most MD education programs do not afford
clinical training in nutrition. ACAM has addressed this knowledge gap with our newest course.
Clinical nutrition is the foundation of integrative/holistic/complementary/functional medicine. Practitioner knowledge and practice of therapeutic nutrition is critical to successful health outcomes.
This nutrition workshop is designed to acquaint practitioners with nutrition knowledge and therapies that can be applied in practice immediately to bring about measurable improvements in a wide variety of symptoms and conditions.
Basic concepts of clinical nutrition such as vitamins, minerals, nutraceuticals and therapeutic diets for various medical conditions will be covered.
Presentations will be interspersed with case studies and Q&A.
At the conclusion of this workshop, learners should be able to:
a) Recognize and understand the need for nutritional intervention for prevention and treatment of various medical conditions.
b) Apply specific nutrition protocols in addressing disease.
c) Help their patients resolve controversies over dietary claims relating to such issues as weight loss, cancer and heart disease prevention.
d) Identify specific supplements that play a role in prevention/treatment of medical conditions.
e) Recognize drug, diet and nutrition interactions.
d) Apply appropriate IV therapies for enhanced healing (optional).
